artist’s note

When I was 13 years old, I found myself wanting to learn something since it was my summer break. I tried drawing and instantly fell in love with it. I then created an art account and was amazed to see that there was this art community where people were so supportive. In the process of creating artworks, I always thought that it was nothing more than just a hobby. Years passed and it was college application season. I applied for a medical related course and was glad that I was accepted. Having spent a year of studying, my heart did not feel that it was at the right place. I knew what I was interested in so I mustered up the courage to shift to a fine arts course and I can say that it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. At first, I was hesitant and was afraid of what other people might say or think, but it came to me that those things don’t really matter. That choice is what would pave the path of my future so it’s only fair that I follow the path that I desire. In just the first week of college, I immediately felt welcomed as I was surrounded by fellow artists. More importantly, I had a wonderful feeling that this is where I belong.

What inspires me in creating is the art community we have. With the internet, you’re exposed to a tremendous variety of art and a diverse roster of artists, keeping you connected and fascinated. Art is also an influential tool that can voice out opinions and spark change in this society full of injustice and corruption, especially in my country, Philippines. In my case, I haven’t done many artworks concerning that theme, but I would want to make more especially in times of need.

What I enjoy most at this point of my life is creating content and making YouTube videos. I use this platform to share my journey with art; the moments I enjoy it, the moments I experience art blocks, and the moments I get unmotivated. Difficulties are inevitable in an artist’s journey, but in the end, we’ll always find a way back and continue creating.
