Reasons for Joining ACOPIA

I joined ACOPIA from April 24 to July 24 as part of an obligatory internship required to complete my degree in Languages and International Affairs. My primary interest in this field, combined with my academic focus on Korean studies, led me to seek an internship in South Korea. I was particularly drawn to ACOPIA due to its involvement in cultural exchange and the K-pop entertainment sector, which aligns with my academic interests and career aspirations.

Below, I outline the main responsibilities I undertook and the key learnings from my time at ACOPIA.

1.    Participating in Promoting ACOPIA’s Programs on Social Media

I participated in promoting ACOPIA’s programs, especially the K-pop mini-concerts, across various social media platforms. This included helping to create and manage engaging content on platforms like Instagram and Facebook to increase visibility and attract interest.

This role enhanced my understanding of social media marketing strategies and content creation. I learned to tailor content for different platforms to maximize engagement and track the success of promotional efforts. Additionally, I became proficient in using tools such as Canva for designing visually appealing graphics and Capcut for editing short video clips, which helped in creating engaging posts.

2.    Participating in Filming and Editing Videos

I took part in the filming and editing of videos, particularly for TikTok, showcasing ACOPIA’s K-pop performances and events. This involved assisting in capturing live footage, creating promotional clips, and editing them to produce high-quality content.

This experience significantly improved my skills in video production. I learned effective filming techniques and advanced editing skills, which are crucial for creating compelling content on fast-paced platforms like TikTok and YouTube. I gained proficiency in using GoPro cameras and professional video cameras for filming, as well as video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, and mobile apps like Capcut and InShot, enhancing my ability to produce professional-grade videos.

3.    Writing Articles and Assisting in Maintaining Accommodation Programs

I contributed by writing articles for Naver, focusing on various ACOPIA activities and events. This required producing clear, engaging content that highlighted our programs and achievements. I also took photos to accompany my articles, which improved my photography skills.

Additionally, I assisted in the management of ACOPIA’s accommodation programs. This included helping to ensure that housing arrangements for participants were well-maintained and addressing any issues that arose.

Through these tasks, I improved my writing and editorial skills, learning to create content that is both informative and engaging. Furthermore, I developed organizational skills and attention to detail while helping manage accommodation logistics, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all participants. I also became proficient in using various software applications for task management and communication, enhancing my ability to coordinate effectively with the team.

Conclusion

My internship at ACOPIA has been an incredibly enriching and formative experience. During my time from April 24 to July 24, I had the opportunity to apply and expand the skills I acquired during my studies in Languages and International Affairs. This experience allowed me to engage in social media promotion, video production, and content creation within the exciting field of K-pop and cultural exchange.

Throughout this internship, I gained valuable insights into the intricacies of social media marketing and video production, and I developed a deeper understanding of managing accommodation programs and writing engaging content. These skills will undoubtedly be beneficial in my future career.

Moreover, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the ACOPIA team. Their warmth, support, and collaborative spirit made my time here not only productive but also truly enjoyable. The team’s kindness and encouragement helped me integrate smoothly and grow professionally. Working with such a dedicated and friendly group has been a highlight of my internship, and I will cherish the positive work environment they fostered.
