Hey, my name is Michelle and I am going to study Tourism and Business in Munich in a dual education concept, which means that I will have to work at a partner company, while still attending classes at school.
For this reason, it had been recommended to me that I should try to do an internship, and as it had been my wish to come to South Korea for a while, I was happy to find the ACOPIA Internship Program.
I experienced a lot while I was here, and met some really nice people.
To work here, you have to be able to work very independently, as you get thrown into it immediately, but as soon as you have everything figured out it will get a lot easier! All of my tasks were related to the Broadcasting Team, which included making Promotional Posts on social media platforms, filming events and taking pictures, editing the new ACOPIA YouTube videos for various channels and some other stuff. All things that I had absolutely no experience in because I never had to do anything similar to that before. Before I came here, I had never edited and uploaded a video on the internet before nor had I created a post for Facebook to promote something.
I used my free time to go out a lot, do sightseeing and went to a lot of museums. On Chuseok I visited Bukchon Village and Gyeongbokgung Palace, both very beautiful places and as it was such a big holiday, everyone was wearing the traditional Hanbok and having photo shootings there. It was one of my favourite things to see.
As I am also a big KPOP fan, I was disappointed to find out that I chose a really unlucky month to come here. All of my favourite groups were either on a break, or touring abroad. Only on one day I was quite lucky after visiting SM Town. I decided to eat at the famous COEX Mall and found out that Chen from Exo was busking, so I stayed with the other fans and waited for a few hours. In the end it really was worth the long wait!
In the evenings I often went out to watch the Buskers in Hongdae and shopping in Myeong-dong or was watching Korean TV shows at the shared house.
Also the food here is amazing. The only problem for me was, that I was struggling to find anything I could eat. Korean dishes usually include a lot of meat, so as a Vegetarian it was difficult to find something most of the time. I often chose to eat Instant Noodles as the easiest solution, but if you are patient enough and not picky, you will always also find other options. Other than that, I love Korean food, especially Tteokbokki.
In all, I had some amazing experiences here, and even though it was only one month, I got to see so much of Seoul. My time here was so short and I am sad to leave so soon. I can´t wait to come back to Korea as soon as possible, and hopefully see even more of the country.
