DAENA
ABOUT ME
My name is Daena Gabrielle G. Dizon and I am a graduate of the De La Salle - College of St. Benilde School of Design and Arts. I majored in Multimedia Arts and developed a passion for Illustration and Graphic Design.
I decided to find an internship in Seoul after graduating because it is one of the places that I am considering building my life and career in.
Before coming to Acopia, I expected to learn many things such as develop my skills as a multimedia artist, marketing, and event planning.
Living in a shared room became a fun experience thanks to the roommates that I had with whom I was able to develop meaningful friendships.
Every successful company has to start somewhere. This made me want to really put in the effort because I knew that I could somehow create things that could improve Acopia’s online presence and therefore, be helpful in bringing in more K-pop related clients and/or international interns so operations will be able to improve.
Having appropriate rules is good. I believe that having rules incites discipline, which is important.
My role was to mainly create designs of posters, banners, thumbnails, among other things for all of Acopia’s social media and websites.
I did this for approximately 3 months before becoming the director of Acopia Minami, which is the newest addition to the projects. I was not told of exactly what this would entail and the amount of responsibility that would lie solely in my hands, but it was rewarding to see that my previous works got me to a certain position.
I was able to have a lot of fun experiences outside the workplace through this internship such as being able to go to Gwangjang Market, Insadong, and Bukchon Hanok Village. The internship also included free Korean Lessons which was a great opportunity to improve my Korean skills.
Within the time I was there, there was one event at the cafe on February 21st. It was to improve the relationship between Korea and Japan, as well as a night to showcase the Kpop School students’ singing and dancing skills. It was a fun night and I got the chance to bond with the students by practicing a dance with them for 2 weeks. The language difference made it a challenge to communicate, but it taught me a lot about how, by putting in the effort, we would all be able to understand one another.
I am extremely thankful that I got the chance to work in Seoul. Through this internship, I was able to meet several amazing people from all around the world and was able to know more about their lives, culture, and language. I am also thankful for the professional opportunity to showcase my skills as a graphic designer and video editor.
