My name is Cyane Thomas and I will be working as an intern at ACOPIA for five months! I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois I am twenty-one years old, and is an avid fan of K-pop, specifically SHINee, Monsta X, NCT, GFriend, and so on. This will be my third time in South Korea after spending a month at Korea University for a summer and conducting an interview project for another.
I am a double major at Marlboro College, focusing on Sociology and Asian Studies with a lens on K-pop and how the K-pop fandom has similar and different thoughts on what the role a K-pop idol has. With that being said, I am passionate about building bridges between different cultures and creating new and exciting activities and programs that will bring people together.
I really like being an intern at ACOPIA because I am able to meet new people from around the world, adapting to Korean culture and the cultures from everyone in the office, collaborating with others to help ACOPIA become more successful, and is able to learn new things. Having experiences with being a Resident Assistant, who has to mediate conflict, come up with methods and procedures for residence halls or dorms have to follow, and coming up for programs and activities for everyone at my college to participate in is one of many ways to prove that what I strive for as an individual matches ACOPIA’s mission statement.
Original Activities: Promoting ACOPIA programs via social media platforms, Admin for Instagram page andVideographer for ACOPIA’s youtube channels.
