Anna chen

Internship period : November 18th, 2022 to May 18th, 2023

Hi! My name is Anna Chen and I'm an American-born-Chinese. This means that I was born in the United States, but my family comes from China. I recently graduated high school in Massachusetts, USA, and got accepted to the University of Michigan, but since I'm so interested in K-pop, I applied for a gap year and decided to come intern at Acopia Entertainment!

My knowledge of Korea and Korean culture comes mostly from watching Korean variety shows and K-pop content. Despite my limited knowledge, however, I became vastly infatuated with many Korean social phenomena like the Spoon theory or Korea's Chaebol structure. In fact, I wrote my senior paper on this topic and was suggested by my college counselor to look into opportunities to experience Korean culture for myself.

In terms of my fluency in Korean, I've been learning Korean on Duolingo for about two years. I am looking forwards to learning Korean in a more systematic way and improving my speaking skills since I haven't been able to do that so much with an app.

I also applied to become an ISAK trainee as I have indulged in things like Dance and Rap, and am looking to improve in these areas during my time in Korea.
